Molly Gallivans Cottage & Traditional Farm
Molly Gallivan’s 200 year old cottage and farm is family run business, situated between Kenmare and Glengarriff on the Beara peninsula, in the picturesque South West of Ireland. At Molly Gallivan’s you will experience the simple country lifestyle in rural Ireland before the days of electricity and modern conveniences.
Molly’s enchanting cottage is over 200 years old. Her farm is complete with animals, fowl and traditional farm machinery. On the farm you will also visit the ghostly ruins of a family dwelling from the era of the Great Famine and a Neolithic Stone Row that forms part of an ancient sun calendar. 5000 years of history on a 500m walk. Molly Gallivan’s is opened from mid March to mid November seven days a week.
We offer guided or self-guided visits to Molly’s Cottage and Farm which begins with a 12 minute audiovisual presentation. Information maps are provided in various languages. After your visit you can enjoy a traditional Irish meal or home baking in Molly’s old teashop. You can also browse in our unique craft shop for some local made products.
Our Irish evening entertainment “The Home Coming” is a night of Irish food, music, song, dance and storytelling; re-enacting the old customs that took place in Irish homes the night before a family member emigrated, or returned, from foreign land. Local actors, singers, musicians, dancers and a local Seanchai (Storyteller) perform in the true traditional Irish spirit. During the night you will be offered refreshments, invited to dance, sing a song or maybe tell a story of your own! Not to be missed when in Ireland.
