The Ring of Beara Cycle Kenmare
The 2019 Ring of Beara Cycle Kenmare will take place on Saturday 25th May 2019. The
event went on pre-sale to past participants on the 12 th of September and general sale at
9.30am on the 13 th of September. It was sold out by 9.58am!
The primary aim of the Ring of Beara Cycle is to encourage visitors to the area, but due to the
continued success of the cycle in September 2018 the organising committee was delighted to
donate €53,000 to six local charities, Castletownbere Community Hospital, Castletownbere Day
Care Centre, Kenmare Family Resource Centre, Kenmare Special Olympics, Kenmare Special Needs
Group, and St John of God Services Kenmare.
Participants can choose from the 140km route or the shorter 110km route. Cyclists will
experience the magnificent scenery of the mountains, valleys and the rugged coastline of
the Beara and will pass some of Ireland’s most picturesque and quaint towns including
Ardgroom, Eyeries, Allihies, Castletownbere, Adrigole, Glengarriff and Kenmare.
Not to be outdone by their parents, children can also compete in their very own Ring of
Beara cycle event. The kid’s cycle starts in Kenmare Square and follows a 2km route around
Kenmare town. Mums and Dads are encouraged to join their children on this fun cycle
which marking the day a real family experience. A team of marshals supervise the route and
ensure the safety of all children who participate. All participants should bring and wear a
safety helmet for the cycle.
