  • Classical Music 'The Irish Guitar Quartet'

    The Irish Guitar Quartet is one of Ireland’s most exciting music ensembles, performing a wide range of music from Baroque to Contemporary fusion. Utilising the wonderful versatility of the instrument to create textures and ambience, the IGQ have left nation-wide audiences spellbound. Join the IGQ in Carnegie Arts Centre, Kenmare as they hunt for Opals in Australia, take shelter from a storm in a Cuban Landscape, and dance the Habanera in Spain - all conveyed through the magic of the guitar! The Programme includes Opals by Phillip Houghton, Carmen Suite by Georges Bizet and Boccherini’s famous Fandango. Tickets €15

  • Drama 'Dead Man's Bells' by the Penny Gaff Players

    Dead Man's Bells by Meabh de Brun. “Three sisters. One brother. A farm that’s up for grabs. A dark comedy communally woven by unreliable narrators, Dead Man’s Bells explores the shared chorus of siblinghood and the weight of unspoken family secrets”. The Penny Gaff Players are a drama group of experienced actors. The group was formed in 2019 when several members returned to the Killarney area and decided to explore both taking part in the One Act Circuit and producing plays locally. Tickets €10

  • Drama Tom Crean Antarctic Explorer Written &Preformed by Aidan Dooley

    Tom Crean, the intrepid Antarctic explorer and one of Ireland’s unsung heroes, is brought to life in this dramatic and humorous solo performance by Aidan Dooley. Hear the riveting true stories of Crean’s Antarctic explorations as one of the few men to serve with both Scott and Shackleton and survive the three famous expeditions: Discovery, (1901 – 1904); Terra Nova (1910 – 1913); and Endurance (1914 – 1916). Crean’s story is a testament of human fortitude against all the elements of the Antarctic, his 36 mile, solitary trek to base camp during the Terra Nova expedition to rescue his comrades Teddy Evans and William Lashly has been described by Antarctic historians as “the finest feat of individual heroism from the entire age of exploration”. He was subsequently awarded the Albert Medal for his bravery. Tickets €22/Students €20

    Kenmare Halloween Howl is a week long community festival which runs over the midterm break in October. It is a family event with something for everyone, meet Bessie the witch, visit the haunted house and the even more haunted forest! Carve a pumpkin or take part in some Halloween splatball fun. Take part in our famous Halloween parade on the 31st of October and enjoy some traditional games in the park afterwards. The Halloween Howl is a great event for all the family.

    The White Crow -The Incredible True Story of Rudolf Nureyev The third directorial endeavour from actor/director Ralph Fiennes explores the incredible life of Rudolf Nureyev, the most celebrated ballet dancer of the 20th century. The film centres on the events that took place during a trip to Paris in 1961 at the height of the Cold War where the Kirov Opera Ballet were performing, which culminated in Nureyev’s defection to the West. Moving from this pivotal event back to his impoverished childhood and through to his training under ballet master Pushkin (Fiennes), the film examines Nureyev’s rebellious determination and infamous single-mindedness to overcome all obstacles.
